Time to dip our toes in the world of powerlifting. Outlier will host an informal mock meet in order to prep our athlete’s that are competing in a sanctioned meet later in September. This event is open to all members of Outlier CrossFit, anyone who wants and lifting challenge or wants to gain some experience in a semi organized setting is encouraged to participate.
Powerlifting tests your max effort in three lifts: squat (back squat), bench press, and deadlift (in that order). We will follow the basic format of a powerlifting meet (see below) in an effort to familiarize our athletes with what they will encounter at a sanctioned meet.

Registration
CLICK HERE to register. We appreciate you registering in advance so we can have an idea of how many lifters to expect and plan accordingly.
Format
Each competitor is allowed three to three attempts on each of the squat, bench press, and deadlift. The lifter’s best valid attempt on each lift counts toward the competition total. For each weight class, the lifter with the highest total wins. If two or more lifters achieve the same total, the lighter lifter ranks above the heavier lifter. For Outlier’s mock meet, we will not split into weight classes as there will likely not be enough people to require it, although this may change as the date approaches, so stay tuned.
The lifting order is determined by declared lifts, thus the lifters with the lowest declared lifts will go first and the bar will be loaded progressively for subsequent lifts/lifters. If unsuccessful with an attempt, the lifter may not follow themselves, but must weight until the next round to attempt the weight again.
Lifters will be required to declare their opening lifts prior to meet start (after weigh-in). Lifters must submit their second and third attempts after completing their preceding attempt. Lifters will be provided with cards to submit their weights.
Keep in mind that this is a loosely organized meet, certain rules/procedures (lifting times, weight classes, groups, etc.) that you would find at a real meet may not be enforced. The point is for us all to gain some experience and have some fun.
Equipment
We will follow the standards of an unequipped or “raw” meet. That means special lifting “suits” are not allowed (I wouldn’t expect any of you to have those). Weight belts, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and special footwear (i.e. lifting shoes) are allowed.
