Best day of the year at Outlier CrossFit is coming up! This is an intra-gym competition where Outliers will compete in large teams lead by a designated coach for a full day of CrossFit fun. Mark your calendars for Saturday July 10th as well as Tuesday July 6th. Once registration closes, teams will be formed with an effort to be as evenly matched as possible.
This competition is for all Outliers of any experience level and is about building our community in a fun, competitive atmosphere. There will be a variety of events and participation in the events will be split up equally among team members so that no matter your experience level, you will contribute to your team as much as anyone. Event details are pending, but know that last year we had 9 events, including olympic lifting ladders, sprint WODs, and relay races. Like I said, it will be a full day of competition. Whether you are a seasoned veteran, or a newbie, this is the event of the year.
Detailed event information is pending. Please note the following:
- Dates:
- Main Event: Saturday July 10th, approx 8am – 1pm
- Class WOD: Tuesday July 6th (the class workout of the day will count towards the competition, more on that below)
- Who can participate: Members of Outlier CrossFit (not open to general CrossFit public)
- Cost: $50 per person, includes event t-shirt
A 2-Day Event
The main event will take place on Saturday July 10th from approximately 8am to 1pm. This will include 5 or 6 events. In years past the comp has lasted all day long, but this year we are attempting to wrap it up a few hours earlier. To set the stage for the Saturday event, the class workout of the day the Tuesday before (July 6th) will also be an event that counts towards the competition. Just show up to class on Tuesday and you will help your team out!

Tuesday July 6th
Event 0 – “Biathlon”
Please note that this workout takes place on Tuesday July 6th as the Outlier class workout.
Participants: All that can make it.
3 scored events:
- 0a) Rounds and reps (without consideration of penalty lap)
- 0b) Total thruster tonnage
- 0c) Participation points
Option A
AMRAP 15:
20 thruster* (PYO weight)
20 pull-up*
*Every time you break (on either movement), perform a 175m run
Option B
AMRAP 15:
20 thruster* (PYO weight)
30 American KB swing* (53/35)
*Every time you break (on either movement), perform a 175m run
Notes:
All athletes shall choose either option A or B. Option B is recommended for people that cannot perform at least 8 unbroken kipping pull-ups.
Athletes will select their own weight for the thruster. Tonnage [T] is calculated by multiplying the barbell weight [W] by the number of thrusters completed per round [r] and by the total number of rounds completed [R]: T = W x r x R. All scores shall be reported in SugarWOD.
Athletes may scale the workout further if needed (i.e. lighter KB weight). Just note your scaling method when recording your score in SugarWOD. Please note the 175m run route: around the building, running inside the parking lot.
Participation points will be awarded to incentivize athletes to show up and participate in the workout. Athletes will not have a personal judge for this workout, so you are all on the honor system. If a coach sees any suspicious activity, security camera footage may be reviewed and a penalty may be imposed.

Teams will go one at a time. For the yoke carry, one athlete will carry it at a time, splitting the 200’ however they want. Athletes will carry the yoke down the alley to the 100’ line (yoke must completely cross the line), then carry it back.
Once back at the starting line, the pair of athletes will perform deadlifts holding Kenny Loggins in one hand and a KB in the other. One partner will hold a heavier KB (male weight = 88#, female weight = 62#), the other partner will hold the lighter KB (male weight = 70#, female weight = 53#).
After completing the deadlifts, athletes will push the sled down to the 100’ line (both pushing at the same time, one athlete on each post). Then, athletes must pull the sled back to the starting line using the 100’ rope attached to the sled, one athlete pulling at a time. Athletes must remain behind the starting line while pulling the sled.
Once the female athletes are done, the male athletes will go, repeating the same process. Athletes not participating in the event may help adjust the equipment/load weight after each movement is complete (i.e. load weight on the yoke for the guys after the ladies finish the yoke portion of the workout).

Part A is a 20 minute AMRAP. When that time is up, record calories completed and all athletes may shift their focus to just part B.
Part B is a chipper, with just one athlete working at a time. The working athlete may run back and tag in another athlete at any time (the rest of the team will stage at the end of the lane).
