Ryan started CrossFitting a little over three years ago in his home state, West Virginia. This past summer, he moved to San Diego and joined Outlier CrossFit. Ryan usually denies knowing much about fitness or health, however, he consistently gets to the box every evening after work to sweat it out. He says that “Grace” is the most exciting WOD and his goal is to deadlift 500 lbs. Ryan claims to be far better at basketball, beach volleyball, and beer drinking (“real sports”) than he is at CrossFit, so if you are ever looking for an extra man for any of those three, don’t forget to hit him up!
Chad has been doing CrossFit for 4 years and a member of Outlier for just over a year. His ex-girlfriends sister got him to try it and he hasn’t looked back! (Un)fortunately for him, the first CrossFit workout he ever did was “Murph” and as he said, it took him a long time. He’s since improved his Murph time and finds that CrossFit helps him stay fit for the outdoors activities he’s passionate about like snowboarding and hiking. He just came back from a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming! When asked how CrossFit has helped him, Chad talks about how it’s more than just physical changes, saying “It has made a huge impact on me mentally. It has changed my perspective on what it means to be healthy. Its not just how much you weigh, or your blood pressure, or other numbers, it is a state of mind. It has shown me the importance of physical fitness as a part of health.” You can usually find Chad in the gym for the 05:30 class and you can count on him to bring the orange juice whenever there’s an early morning potluck!
