So how was your healthy eating challenge? Did you give the full six weeks a true chance to work? Did you see the results that you wanted to? We are gathering the results from everyone and lots of people are surprised but what happened to them.
Lots of people achieved much of their goals, from gaining weight to losing weight, to getting stronger and faster! The funny thing about the people that accomplished the most, they didn’t do it by some crazy approach they made up or found on some obscure blog on the interwebs. Most people that achieved the most, stuck to smart plans and stayed consistent! Remember that when it comes to diet, consistency is key and it is what your body needs. Whether it be muscle gain or fat loss. If you only stick to the plan for 4 or 5 days of the week the results won’t happen at the speed you want or possibly not at all. Now that the challenge is over, how do we decide if your challenge was a success?
Remember that we used several markers to measure progress and change. Body weight, body fat percentage, hill run time, max thruster, “Oly Death” and just old school before and after pictures. Using this many markers allows us to see what changed especially in comparing different individual’s goals and seeing what improved for people on different paths. It was a fairly common occurrence for people trying to lose weight that the scale didn’t change as much as they thought it would or by as much as they had hoped. However, when we punched in the body fat percentage chart their percentages changed by a pretty good amount. A lot of people actually lost pounds on the scale as a byproduct of eating more food than they normally would. As well lots of people cleaned up their diets and watched their exercise times go down and the weights get heavier. There is one more thing that is what makes this challenge a success and is really the biggest take away.
This is the knowledge you gained from this experiment. Hopefully you walked away with something that will help you in your future endeavours. Whether that is knowledge of how to better manage your food in a way that helps you exercise and the results you see in the gym. Maybe you learned that a certain approach isn’t that great for you. This type of information can be just as valuable. Maybe you learned that is isn’t that hard to live without a few items that had become a daily habit over the holidays. What matters at the end of this challenge is that you are moving forward to something in your tool box that you didn’t have before and that you are doing better then when you started!
So keep up the great work and remember that healthy eating isn’t just something that you do for 6 weeks, it’s something that you do for life!
