We all get stuck in the habits of our daily grind.
Wake up, make some coffee, maybe get some breakfast in and figure out what the heck I’m doing today!
Well before I even get to work I gotta check the WOD and prep my gym back. Maybe there are rope climbs? Do I have to squat again?! I wonder if I can PR my clean today? Man I really don’t want to run. Am I going to workout three days this week? STOP IT!
As human beings we are given the opportunity to run, jump, pull, push and breathe. The ability to move. As we turn into adults we have forgotten how to play.
Take this as a huge sign to stop growing up and enjoy yourself!
Learn how to play new sports. Take your new abilities from the box and apply them to other things. And who knows, picking up these new skills from sports will probably help you become a better CrossFitter.
Besides, CrossFit should not be the only thing you do for physical activity. Get outside, kick a ball, go for a swim in the ocean, hike a mountain, do yoga. If anything this is a great way to get some active recovery into your routine.
Being in the box every single day will become exhausting and tiring. Both mentally and physically. Suffering through all the aches, tears, bruised shins, torn hands it all takes a toll. It’s the same thing that can occur during work or your career.
When you start to get stressed out you go on a vacation. It might be as far as going to Nashville to visit family and watch a country concert or even just going down the street and spending a couple of days on the beach to recharge your batteries.
Just do something different for a couple of days. And when that itch to push yourself beyond your limits during a workout is too unbearable, hey look at that the gym is still there.
So apply your fitness accordingly. Jump in the water, run on a trail relax and be a kid again!
This Saturday Outlier CrossFit will be going across the bridge to join our sister gym, CrossFit Coronado, for a beach WOD. We will be at the North Beach entrance at 9:00 AM. So try and get there a little early and be prepared to have fun! THe North Beach entrance is directly across from Sunset Park by the back gate to north Island. It’s the next sand dune down from dog beach (note dogs are not allowed on North Beach). Make sure you BRING WATER!!!
Afterwards we are planning on having drinks/lunch at McP’s! If you can’t make the WOD or are a little out of your workout element from the Lady A concert Friday night we’d still love to see you at McPs around 10:30/11!
There will be an 8:00 AM WOD at the gym, but no barbell proficiency, and just open gym. We will not have Childcare at Outlier this Saturday.
