There comes a time in everyone’s life when they’re watching TV and look down only to notice the many chip crumbs caught on their stomach mantle. This moment is usually followed by a quick string of thoughts: “Oh God, what have I become…” to “I should really do something about that…” and finally to “I need to work out…”. This is where we at Outlier CrossFit come in. We are happy to provide you with the help you need to finally be rid of your excess pudge. Written up below are five tips that can help you get started on your journey to a better, fit you.
You Are Entering A No Jiggle Zone
Here are five easy tips that can help make the transition into CrossFit just a little bit easier:
1. You Are Your Biggest Competitor
It is important to keep your eyes firmly on your own workout, ensuring that you pace yourself, maintain the proper form and technique, and not bite off more than you can chew when it comes to the weight. If you spend all your time worrying about how much more the people around you are doing, you will quickly feel discouraged.
2. Eat Healthier
To get the most out of yourself, you should be sure to eat the foods that are best for your body. Eating lots of vegetables, proteins, and fruits can give you more energy and make you feel better overall. Processed foods and soda simply can’t keep your body strong enough for what CrossFit demands of it.
3. Scale To Your Level
There is no shame is going with the weight and techniques that are fit for your level. You have nothing to prove to those around you, and you can even hurt yourself if you attempt to push yourself into something you aren’t ready for. And, here at Outlier, we can assure you that no one will judge you for it.
4. Ask Questions
If there is something about an technique or motion you don’t understand, feel free to ask one of our coaches to explain it again. Many of these techniques can be complicated and attempting to do one when you don’t fully understand it can get you hurt. Besides, a little refresher course never hurt anyone.
5. Take A Break
Lastly, it is important to take breaks. If you begin to feel worn down or incredibly tired, take some extra days off. Trust your body to let you know when you’re not ready for an exercise or need a little extra time to recover. Rest properly, and your next gym visit will go smoothly.
