Our featured athlete this month is Amanda Carpeted. Amanda is a regular of the 8:30 or noon class depending on the day. One thing is for sure, you can always count on her to be giving everyone a run for there money anytime there is a wod with a bunch of lifting. She has been member since April of 2016 and since then has made tons of gainz here at Outlier. When she started, she had serious limitations on overhead squats, but you can now find her working hard at accessory movements like snatch balance turning that previous weakness into a strength.
What is your background leading up to starting at Outlier?
“I played collegiate softball at Ball State in Indiana. We did olympic lifts and CrossFit style workouts. When I moved out here, I joined a gym in Mira Mesa. It closed, so I came to Outlier.”
Why do you do CrossFit?
“There are so many things to improve on. No matter what, there is always a new skill to master. I like feeling myself get stronger as well as seeing other people improve. I like the team aspect here. I hate working out by myself and really enjoy how the community pushes everyone to be better. I really like being able to do things that I couldn’t do before.”
Favorite movement?
“Clean and Jerk or maybe squats.”
Least favorite movement?
“Definitely rope climbs.”
Amanda is a quieter athlete that shows up and takes care of business. We are really happy to have you as part of the family Amanda, and we look forward to helping you continue to get stronger and kick butt!
